To a large degree SINAPSE will be enabled and powered by advanced communications
technologies. We plan to work closely with the campus IT leaders to
utilize currently available technologies and collaborate on research
and development projects that will help develop new technology solutions,
interfaces, and networking and visualization strategies to enhance the
culture of collaboration, connectivity and creativity. We look towards
working with researchers on campus who are already involved with developing
wireless technologies, higher bandwidth immersive environments, visualization
techniques, and various forms of remote telepresence initiatives. Each
participating center will be equipped with a video networking and teleconferencing
set up that will facilitate networked data streaming of center activities.
Researchers will be able to easily connect to exchange information and/or
participate in ongoing events, workshops and discussions. The goal is
to design, experiment with, and adopt a variety of interfaces that encourages
a transdisciplinary dialogue, while actively engaging the growing connections
between disciplines.
