Goldberg's Variations
By Dan Gordon

In the lab, CNSI Prof. Bob Goldberg's research in genetic engineering may lead to new generations of superplants. But it is in the classroom where his influence perhaps is greatest, as he sows the seeds that will blossom into the newest crop of young scientists. Read more in UCLA Magazine...

Analysis & Imaging

Managing the huge volume of data associated with Nanosystems Imaging is a huge challenge for applied math and computer science researchers. By collecting real-time images, it is easy to quickly create data files that range from hundreds of Megabytes to Terabytes. Mining through that data in real time to extract the biologically significant information required for molecular medicine, and then creating visualizations of the data, all represent formidable tasks. The CNSI makes use of its expertise in image reconstruction, algorithm development for imaging and data visualization to push forward in this arena.
