Nanosystems for Information Technology

The ever-increasing demand for high-capacity communications, information storage and display will continue unabated well into the 21st century. In addition, the increase in data communication rates, higher density data storage, and improved, rapid accessibility of data, new demands will be placed on the visual display of information and the density of information storage. While many of the manufacturing approaches for information technologies are reaching maturity, the actual physics of information science is in its infancy. Work at the CNSI taps into this physics and will lead to a transformation of how data are manipulated, stored and transmitted in the 21st century.
